International Rescue Committee (IRC)/Comprehensive assessment of the social- economic situation of refugee hosting districts and the Karamoja region – Uganda (June to August 2021): Governance Systems International was contracted by IRC to conduct a comprehensive ERD-related assessment in Karamoja and the refugee hosting districts in Acholi, West Nile and South-western regions of Uganda to identify challenges and gaps in programming, existing needs, and current implementing partners in these regions.
This assessment will
contribute to the IRC’s ERD sector strategy as it aims to understand the status
of the underprivileged and refugee hosting areas of Uganda to identify existing
gaps in current programming and provide recommendations on appropriate
programing to cover the identified gaps. The result of this assessment provided
the IRC with the necessary contextual understanding to potentially expand its
ERD programming to these areas after engaging different donors for funding.
